My Father was Assistant Plant Superintendent at this natural gas compressor station operated by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. from August 1955 to about March of 1961. My brother, Cloyce, and I visited the station in 2008 to find it very much changed in appearance. The engine room once was manned around the clock by several operators and a maintenance crew during the day. In those days this station was immaculate, well maintained - everything polished. Now with only a part time maintenance crew and one or two operators on each shift there is no time for non-essential work. My brother and I are glad our father never saw the station in this condition. He would be appalled as were we. But it was nice to see the same horizontal Cooper and Bessemer engines that we knew more than 50 years ago.
